Yellow Brick Road

So here, once again I find myself wondering whether there is something much more exciting for us than what we have now. Much more to the point if there is, how we not only identify it but also become part of it. But instead so occupied in life we forget to live. Every single day as common sheep within the herd we call society, we awake and work away the majority of it before we would have begun something we personally would like to achieve. But that decision is soon transformed from the possibility of anything had one started their day in such a way to now merely the ability to stop. To crash out on the couch and numb any remaining brain cells with visual chewing gum, a flick of the lazy remote and on comes our companion the television set. Mindless escapism that will get us through to the weekend, an opportunity to treat ourselves from the five days worked from which we were lost in. Only then to realise how much time has past as months blend aimlessly into one another and then a rare treat when we then allow ourselves a massive 2/3 weeks from fifty-two for our own time.
Some individuals enjoy their work, a minority of the mass perhaps, so is it that they are lucky or that the masses are not. Or is it that the mass don’t know, that they are lost in choice, fear of failure and make do, baffled by the continuous movement and choose to merely go with the flow. Minding their own business and avoiding any uncomfortable scenes that might be provoked if we god forbid STOP AND THINK. Keep your head down and keep in step with the rest, easy…peasy. Pack yourself into the tube at 530pm on a Friday and conform to the norm, just be sure not to make eye contact with anyone and not ‘Baa’ too loud and you’ll be fine. All well and good for an easy existence but only in today’s society, idiot proof follow the signs and you can’t go wrong!! But what about the next generation we are destroying COMMON SENSE and creating a world of dummies. I am sure all the conspiracy theorists are screaming in agreement let alone making the leaders if it all exceptionally happy if indeed true but you see my point.
Its then that we can begin to comprehend that the answers may not necessarily be that far from us, but kept at a distance as we have nor the time or energy to pause and pick them out. Pay off this, save for that and don’t forget to do this!! Overwhelming enjoyment felt in parts but also hardship created. A want for more seems so natural to us, but not forgetting so is happiness, that flow continues strongly now in a materialistic world. So spoilt we have become, a selfish storm and the rat race begun.

Brainwashed by media, idol rock stars etc paint an image of what we want, television ‘a life we want to live’.
Adverts displaying things we need. Need to what, look cool, to stand out from the crowd, self-reconigition. A public display that we fit in or look momentarily materialistically healthy, that we are ok?
So preoccupied in this world wind we’ve forgotten our primary needs.

Overshadowed and blinkered in the headlights.
